STAMFORD – Organizers have moved the first night of Stamford’s annual Wednesday Nite Live concert series indoors due to expected inclement weather.

The Downtown Special Services District announced on the EventBrite ticket portal that rock band Blues Traveler will move their performance Wednesday to the Palace Theater at 61 Atlantic St.

Last week, just days before the start of the annual Stamford Twin Concert Series, the DSSD announced that all attendees will be required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a negative test taken within 72 hours to enter the place. But in addition to the new plan, the Palace Theater will require patrons to wear masks without eating or drinking.

No outside food or drink will be allowed on the site, and no food will be sold inside.

Tickets are available online through Eventbrite and will be sold at the Palace Theater on the day of the show. Doors open at 6 p.m. and concert starts at 7 p.m.

Aug 27 – Blues guitarist Kenny Wayne Shepherd, a father of six aged 3 to 13, was shopping with his youngest when he took a break to answer a few questions on the phone. The 44-year-old Shreveport, Louisiana native, performing at the Fraze Pavilion in Kettering on Tuesday, August 31, discussed life in quarantine, new music and returning to the road for a limited number of concerts .

Q: How have the closures impacted your plans for 2020 and beyond?

A: We had booked all of 2020 and most of 2021 when the pandemic hit and the lockdowns hit. Everyone has been in this perpetual cycle of having to reschedule shows and reschedule shows. After continuing to do this and getting closer to the end of last year, we took a wait-and-see approach because it wasn’t really clear how this year was going to play out. For some people, it’s still unclear how the rest of this year will unfold.

Q: How did you manage during the unprecedented break in the road?

A: It’s definitely the most common time I spend at home since my wife and I started having kids and it’s been pretty amazing. We made a conscious effort that we were going to make lifelong memories for our children. We have done a lot of things over the past year and a half that I think our kids will remember all their lives and so will we. It’s awesome. We made the most of the situation and had a great time together. We have done a lot of things that we could not have done otherwise. It wasn’t extravagant stuff. It’s like taking them camping, hiking, and finding waterfalls in the woods and other things that anyone could have done given the circumstances.

Q: When did you resume the live?

A: We took things slowly. We did three shows in June, one in July and three in August. It’s a bit sporadic and it’s not normal for us. We ended up being a bit more careful and decided to postpone most of the tour dates we had on the books until next year. We’ll have about 25 shows by the end of this year, if they all take place. We usually do around 120 shows a year or more, so that’s a huge drop.

Q: What was it like coming back with the band and playing for people again?

A: It was awesome. It’s the thing we live for. Everyone was salivating and waiting and were ready to take the opportunity to come back and do what we think we are supposed to do which is entertain people, play music for them and bring joy to the world. their life through music. We were fired. We just got up and started doing what we’re doing, man. We followed our instincts and had a really good time doing these shows.

Q: What’s the plan for the studio album you completed before the March 2020 closings?

A: We have almost two albums of material and it’s still there. I just wait and calculate. Some people released albums but we chose to wait. The whole point for us to release an album is to be able to tour behind it and support it and bring new music to the audience. I’m patiently optimistic that we’ll be able to release this album next year, but until we know it’s going to happen and they aren’t going to tear it all away from us again, I’ll wait.

KEY POINTS

  • Chelsea are linked with transfer for Luis Diaz from Porto
  • Blues set to race against Tottenham to sign Diaz
  • The winger’s agent had previously hinted at a possible transfer

Chelsea are looking to add another striker before the transfer window closes but are expected to beat Tottenham in a potential bidding war.

The Blues are already benefiting from the services of world-class striker Romelu Lukaku.

However, it looks like Thomas Tuchel’s side are not yet done stepping up their attacking prowess and have found another possible addition to FC Porto’s Luis Diaz, Portuguese outlet Maisfutebol reported.

International Business Times could not independently verify this information.

Diaz is currently a “target of interest” among English Premier League clubs, including Chelsea, according to the report.

An offer is expected to be made by the Blues, but the report says Tottenham will be vying for the winger’s signing as well.

Both English clubs have started to monitor Diaz’s situation “closely” after the 24-year-old impressed at this year’s Copa America tournament, having tied Lionel Messi’s total of four goals, added The report.

Although Porto assured Diaz would not be sold cheaply by injecting a € 80million ($ 94million) release clause into his contract, the possibility of his transfer is gaining ground as the report also states that his agent Carlos Van Strahalen has previously been traveling across Europe with England considered to be his current location.

Ahead of the last update on Diaz, Van Strahalen hinted at Porto opening up to letting his client go this summer.

“Clearly, with the great Copa América that Luis [Diaz] has done so, the interest of the clubs has increased but at the moment there is nothing concrete and the player continues to enjoy his holidays with his family and friends, ”Van Strahalen said last month.

“Since before the Copa, several clubs have been following Luis’s process closely thanks to the good numbers he recorded during his two seasons in Portugal, but it is no secret that after the tournament the interest increased, but it was only approaches, ”he continued. “I don’t know anything about Barcelona at the moment.”

As it stands, Chelsea and Tottenham are Diaz’s two favorite landing spots if Porto succeed with a sell.

While both clubs are very capable of signing expensive players, Spurs will likely be more eager to pursue Diaz, having been expected to keep an eye on the player for years.

Diaz continues where he left off in Primeira Liga this season as he has already scored two goals in Porto’s opening three league games.

Carlton is set to make a call on David Teague’s future on Monday, with the Blues due to part ways with their AFL coach.

The club’s board has received the findings of an external review in its football department and is expected to announce them this week, with a decision on Teague’s tenure looming.

On Saturday night, Teague said he expected to know if he would continue with the Blues until 2022, the final season of his three-year contract, on Monday, but was almost resigned to losing his job.

“I guess I think it’s going to be Monday,” Teague said after Saturday night’s 14-point loss to GWS.

“I had a discussion this week and they said after the game they will meet, the board and look at this.

“… yeah, I understand the club are going to make a decision. Let’s be honest, that doesn’t seem to be going in my favor.

“But in terms of what I did and what I was able to control: I know who I am, I know how I did it, I’m really happy.”

Over the past week, Teague lamented a perceived lack of support within Carlton as pressure mounted on his position in his second full season in the hot seat.

Teague was also frustrated with how speculation about his future had played out publicly, including the announcement of the external review, but said the Blues had improved in recent weeks.

“I love this club. I don’t want to sit here and say anything, but when the criticism comes in the media it’s not high performance,” he said.

“I’m going to challenge myself, I’m going to say that this football club has things to improve.

“I think even in the last three weeks I won’t go into what, but I’ve seen improvement to a level that I haven’t seen in the past.”

Teague, who supported the Blues in finding a way to compete for the top four, said he learned a lot and made mistakes during his tenure but was proud of his impact on Carlton.

“I’m really proud of the way they did it. I’m really proud of the way we are shaping our culture, there has been a change,” he said.

“And these are the things that I’m going to leave really proud of.”

Since its formation in 1968, The Climax Blues Band has been one of the most assiduous groups on the circuit.

The blues group Climax

Famed for their live performances, their incendiary musicality, their melodic and technical sounds and their concern for solid groove, their near-capacity show at the Guildhall – their first in 18 months – showed why they have earned their reputation.

With Dan Nichols on guitar, replacing indisposed Lester Hunt, George Glover’s line-up on keyboards, drummer Roy Adams, vocalist Graham Dee, bassist Neil Simpson and saxophonist Chris Aldridge performed an energetic and lively set of their best-known tracks, some of the premier covers and a brave new song that served as a reminder.

The set kicks off with three very catchy tracks, Straight Down the Middle, Fool For The Bright Lights and Down In Louisiana, all played with aplomb. The problems that could have been caused by a year and a half of actual inactivity were not obvious.

The slower song 17th Street Canal showed a different side to the band’s creativity, while a closer, Willie Dixon’s classic blues number, Spoonful, allowed for some exciting play from the ensemble.

Isn’t that a kick in the head? opened the second half, before the melodic and softer ballad Out of Time became a lesson in minimalism and dynamic construction.

The Hard Luck blues featured powerful guitar and saxophone playing, while the band’s best-known song, Can’t Get It Right, started out as a slower gospel number for the Hammond organ and vocals, before the familiar catchy chorus and the rest of the group showed why this was such a popular piece.

The long form Wrong Place, Wrong Time finished the set and the new number Through the Lens received its live premiere at the end of the concert.

Even after more than 50 years as a live and recording ensemble, The Climax Blues Band doesn’t just rest on its laurels, delivering new music and brilliant live experiences to its loyal and growing audience.

BELFAST – Thursday August 12, Belfast Summer Nights brings two groups together at the Steamboat Landing in Belfast.

Smoke and Mojo will open the evening with a fiery rendering of Gypsy Soul Blues. The dynamic duo combine the talents of local boat Dan Miller and Troy Youngblood.

“Expect a lot of fun with these guys,” Summer Nights said in a press release.

Next is the outer space group.

“For those of us older hippies in these areas, this is the group we would happily lead to Sugarloaf, Portland, Portsmouth or even Monroe,” Nights said. “Galactic For over 5 decades, outer space has had a dedicated fan base in Maine and New England.

Rockers, songwriters and musicians, they have shared stages with Dr John, BB King, Waylon and Willy, and Willy Dixon to name a few.

“As concert organizers, we can’t help but worry about the growing number of Covid cases in Waldo County,” Nights said. “And while we know that outboard transmission is extremely rare, we are taking the following steps to address this issue:

“Make the area bigger so people can space out and watch the show. We’re moving the stage to the lookout location and playing the sound so people can enjoy the show all over Steamboat Landing and on Belfast Commons Park Hill across the street.

“The dance area will be enlarged to promote spacing between the dancers.

“Our Belfast Summer Nights staff will be masked so that everyone feels comfortable if they choose to mask as well.

“There is a lot of space to stretch out and enjoy this great show!”

Additionally, due to the limited number of parking spaces near Steamboat Landing Park, the Waldo County YMCA generously provides free bus service to and from the Y to the show. If you are interested in this service, please park in Y car parks and board the bus at the main entrance. The bus will leave at 5:00 p.m. with additional trips as needed. The return will probably be at 7 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. as needed. In addition, the bus will be available if it rains. Summer Nights will provide a garden cart to help transport your camp chairs to the seating area from the boathouse drop-off location.

Show time is 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Steamboat Landing Park in Belfast. Free entry with hat passage. Donations accepted. Dogs are not allowed in the steamboat landing area but are welcome in the Commons park.

The major sponsor of this evening comes from the Grasshopper Shop.

For questions, call 207-322-7123.

A new set of murals in Deep Ellum showcase the talent of local artists and recognize the area’s blues history in ways few other neighborhood projects have.

The 16-foot-tall murals, 10 of which make up the project, color the south facade of The Stack building along Clover Street.

Freddie King and T-Bone Walker appear in the murals, as do more obscure musicians like Zuzu Bollin and Andrew “Jr. Boy” Jones. Lightin ‘Hopkins is presented with an excerpt from the sheet music of the traditional American song “Deep Elem Blues“, which has been covered by artists such as Jerry Lee Lewis, Les Paul and the Grateful Dead.

There’s also Blind Lemon Jefferson and Blind Willie Johnson, painted by Teals Suns, as well as Jimmie and Stevie Ray Vaughan, painted by Ryan Stalsby.

Although the neighborhood is teeming with hundreds of murals, few recognize its heritage as a launching pad for musicians working in the uniquely American genre.

“There have been so many businesses in Deep Ellum and part of the story is relegated to small plaques and big stories of what it used to be,” said artist Izk Davies. “There has to be a strong presence on how it all started. “

Davies painted a mural inspired by the album cover of Dallas soul singer N’Dambi’s debut album in 1998, The blues of the lost little girl.

“I didn’t want them to be strictly male blues guitarists,” Davies said.

“Murals definitely bring people to Deep Ellum,” artist Hatziel Flores said. Its portrayed Blind Lemon Jefferson’s song “Big Night Blues”.

“They put up random murals, but Deep Ellum has a history of blues and artists. It is important that local artists paint local musicians to represent how this happened.

Hatziel Flores poses by his creation "Blues of the big night" in the alley.

The project was funded by the real estate group behind The Stack building, organized by the Deep Ellum Foundation and organized by artist spouses Cathryn and Dan Colcer.

It runs along the block behind The Stack building that those involved have dubbed Blues Alley.

Dan Colcer first visited Deep Ellum in 2008 after immigrating to the United States from Romania. He expected to see blues musicians, but instead the neighborhood was full of muralists.

“I wanted to combine the old blues musicians with the new muralists,” said Colcer, who had been trying to make Blues Alley a reality since 2010.

The artists had to color the murals “85% blue” – and not just with reference to the genre. The idea, says Colcer, came from other cities like Chefchaouen, Morocco, which is known for its blue buildings and alleys. Blue paint jobs are also common on houses in Romania, he said.

“It’s hot and they use blue colors to keep cool,” he said.

Dan and Cathryn Colcer, the project's curators, pose in the alley in July.

The project could gain momentum as owners of other buildings have expressed an interest in participating. The Colcers want Blues Alley to expand eastward and ultimately cover three blocks.

The director of the Deep Ellum Foundation, Stephanie Hudiberg, said more murals are planned for the fall. She is also hoping to secure state funding through the Texas Commission on the Arts to add vibrant lighting to the lane.

“We’re trying to create a cultural landmark that tells the story and the diversity of the neighborhood,” said Cathryn Colcer.

Yesterday, the official Instagram handle of RRR announced that Jr NTR will be taking over the page for the next few days. “Our BHEEM @ tarak9999 is taking over @RRRMovie Instagram for the next few days starting tomorrow! Stay tuned to see what he is upto in Ukraine !, ”the statement from team RRR read.

And since then, fans are thrilled and have waited on what NTR has in store for them. The actor has decided to share fun videos, BTS and on-location moments from the sets of RRR in Ukraine. And just like how we imagined, NTR shared a hilarious video of Charan calling it “Monday morning blues”.

The first post from NTR’s is a hilarious one showcasing Charan’s visuals. It is understood that NTR is recording the video and asks Charan “Drums practice ainda” who sat idle layabout.

Charan then flaunts his sudden bouts of energy asking why they kept him waiting in the morning with no work and costumes. The conversation needs to be watched only to get the original essence and the two actors surely made us laugh.

RRR is gearing up for a grand slam theatrical release on 13th October this year. The Rajamouli directorial is in the final leg of the shoot.

Larry Pleau, who has been with the Blues organization since 1997 when he became general manager, leaves to work with the Arizona Coyotes.

Pleau was appointed senior advisor to general manager Bill Armstrong, who had been with the Blues before joining Arizona before last season. Pleau, 74, was general manager of the Blues for 13 seasons, the longest period in franchise history, until he stepped down in 2010 when Doug Armstrong took over. After that, Pleau stayed with the Blues, working in the screening department. He had been a Senior Advisor to Amateur Scouting, working closely with Bill Armstrong who oversaw the Scouting Department and living in the Boston area. Last season he had the title of Amateur Scouting Consultant.

“We are delighted to add Larry to the Coyotes organization,” said Bill Armstrong. “Larry brings to our team a wealth of hockey knowledge and front office experience and he will be a valuable addition to our management group. He will play an important role in helping us build a long-term winning team here in the Valley. “

“We would like to thank Larry Pleau for his 24 years with the Blues organization, both as general manager and as senior advisor,” said Doug Armstrong. “We wish him all the best in his new role with the Arizona Coyotes. “

Pleau won the Stanley Cup with three different organizations. He was a player for the Montreal team that won in 1970-71, was in the front office for the New York Rangers when they won in 1993-94, and then was with the Blues for their victory in 2018-19.

The Blues have entered into a contract with another of their restricted free agents.

On the heels of a 2020-21 breakout season, forward Jordan Kyrou agreed to a two-year, $ 5.6 million contract with the team. (Average annual value: $ 2.8 million.) He will still be a restricted free agent when the deal ends.

Kyrou, still just 23, scored 14 goals with 21 assists in 55 games last season. He averaged a career-high 14 minutes 25 seconds of ice time. His goal tally and his points tally were both the team’s fifth best.

“Before last season my biggest thing was that I wanted to be consistent, to be a consistent player in the lineup,” Kyrou told Post-Dispatch. “Yes, I feel like I made good progress last year. This year I have to do the same.”

The Blues have made it clear that they are giving Kyrou every chance to claim a top-six role this coming season. The new contract is a vote of confidence, as it represents an almost four-fold increase from his salary cap of $ 758,333 from last season.

“Obviously, with the Blues and the organization, all the staff, we have a very good connection with each other,” said Kyrou. “We feel really good about each other. I’m obviously delighted to be back for sure.. I love playing for St. Louis.”
