Learning by making allows design students to experiment with different materials and provides hands-on learning which seems to lack from a traditional architecture school curriculum. This paper addresses this issue by focusing on the process of an intensive design & build summer workshop, in order to answer the question of how first-year architecture students imitate and improvise ways to design when they meet with new material and a technique for the first time. The Ceramics is frequently considered being associated with traditional handcrafts yet has a long and rich history in architectural design. Integrating CAD/CAM technologies and the pliable nature of ceramics, which can be formed in a wide range of states (dry clay and wet slip), opens new possibilities in design and production. While there are different production processes, this workshop focused on exploration of the use of press molding and slip-casting. In this workshop, the intersection of traditional and digital making using improvisational molding techniques is discussed through participating students' strategies of learning to make digital ceramics by imitating forms. This paper investigates how imitation of form as a primary visual reference encouraged students to improvise and ultimately come up with unique methods of production, which helped their projects go beyond to be mere imitations. Despite the limitations of the material, this study suggests aforementioned hybrid approach as a possible way of integrating meticulous ceramic manufacturing techniques into the educational setup.

It refers to the computer software that is used to both design and manufacture products.It is to improve the design and creation of dental restorations,especially dental prostheses, including crowns,crown lays,veneers,inlays and onlays, fixed bridges, dental implant restorations, dentures (removable or fixed), and orthodontic appliances. These are systems that can design and produce restoration out of blocks or blanks of ceramics. CAD/CAM is one of the highly competent dental lab technologies. Appraising the Roles of Ceramic Design and Conceptual

Ceramics is a household name especially when it has to do with the utilitarian wares such as cups, plates, sanitary wares, floor and wall tiles and so on. The traditional use of ceramics as mentioned has so beclouded the idea of ceramics such that to a large extent, the conceptual part of ceramics becomes alien to many in the society even amongst professionals in the field. This article seek to take a look at the different roles of ceramics in the society apart from the traditional roles. It aspires to expand the vista of ceramic relevance on a conceptual platform. It will be obvious from this study that the importance of ceramics goes beyond the narrow angle which people are used to. Conceptualisation in the area lends a voice in a variety of social issues where utilitarian ceramics cannot operate. Conceptual ceramics provides a platform of creative freedom upon which the artist can express himself through morphological experimentation. This study shows that the conceptual aspect of ceramics has an unwavering relevance to the society of interrogating social issues.

This paper briefly describes the steps of production with the help of CNC technology, to show its usage and advantages in industry. It starts from an idea which is then brought to life in a 3D model designed in the CAD software. It is followed by defining all the parameters for CNC milling using the CAM software. Finally, it is brought to the machine to be milled. In the end, the result is a product that can be used and produced more quickly than if everything had to be done manually. Everything is modelled in SolidWorks, the parameters are defined for milling in SolidCAM, and a G-code got from SolidCAM is loaded using a post processor called Mach3.
